Progressive Scan CCD Interlaced scan means the lines that make up the picture on your screen are drawn in an
alternating fashion. In the US, first the even lines appear on the screen, and then the odd lines appear. The slight delay between odd and even line refreshes creates some distortion or 'jaggedness'. This is because only half the line keeps up with the moving image while the other half waits to be refreshed. The disadvantage of interlaced scanning becomes vivid in the still image of moving object.
Unlike interlaced scan CCD, progressive scan CCD scans the entire picture line by line. In other words, captured images are not split into separate fields like in interlaced scanning. Therefore, the distortion or 'jaggedness' will not be seen on progressively scanned image. However, a high quality monitor is required to get the best out of this type of scan. The MPix 13 series uses a progressive scan CCD to deliver the best image to the network video recorder

1.3 Megapixel Resolution Traditional CCTV cameras send video over coaxial cable. This transmission method has limited the quality of video significantly. although the camera sends higher quality video over the coaxial cable, the cable cannot transmit all of the high quality video. For example, you just buy Porsche to enjoy its speed, but you are living in a rural area that only have off roads. No reason to buy Porsche, right? Therefore, CCTV CCD manufacturers have no reason to produce a CCD higher that 410,000 pixels; the best analog CCTV camera can have maximum 704 x 480 resolutions. Since, the IP camera was introduced in the market, the limitation on transmission has disappeared. We have much wider and paved road which you can drive as fast as you want. MPix13 IP megapixel camera can have maximum 1280 x 1024 resolutions, which means four times larger resolution than a traditional high resolution CCTV camera. A study said "The best CCTV camera can cover an area 23 feet wide and 16 feet high, for a total 368 ft.²." However, Statewide Security Systems MPix13 can cover 43' x 34' area or 1462 ft² (4 times large coverage of the traditional CCTV camera).

Day & Night (SONY'S Light Funnel Technology) The Light Funnel mechanism works by combining two pixels horizontally and vertically to form one larger pixel. By combining four pixels into one, the combined photoreceptive area is four times larger than that of a single pixel. As a result, the sensor converts a greater amount of light energy into more electrons to produce a stronger electrical signal. Although the resolution drops to 640 x 480 (VGA) when this function is activated, the benefit is video that is useable in low light conditions.
This function can be activated automatically in response to surrounding light conditions, or on a pre-specified time schedule, allowing operators to monitor moving objects at dusk without manually changing settings.
The below comparison shows images captured using Light Funnel (left) and Slow Shutter or Intensifier (right).

Dual Codec Support (Motion JPEG, MPEG-4) SSS MPix13 encodes the images in both MPED-4 and Motion JPEG to provide maximum flexibility in the recording and viewing. If the local area network bandwidth is limited and wated to save hard drive space or record more days. MPEG - 4 recording is the best choice. (MPEG-4.3 kbps per frame, Motion JPEG - 100 kbps per frame)
Unique digital to digital image processing technology without video loss Most of standard lower cost IP cameras are using existing regular camera module with IP video server. The regular camera module has huge video loss from the image processing step to analog signal. A low cost IP camera is converting this low quality video to an IP signal, so that the converted image quality is poor even though their specs don't represent. However, SSS MPix13 converts the raw digital signal from CCD to IP signal directly to achieve high quality video. This high tech image processing could be found from a few big security manufacturers like SONY AND AXIS.
